Slipped Disc
Sub-4 Musculoskeletal Biomechanics Clinic in Staffordshire, West Midlands
Slipped Disc
Slipped Disc, your spine is made up of a series vertebrae bones. From top your neck down, your spine includes 7 joints of the cervical spine then 12 joints in the thoracic spine and 5 joints in the lumbar spine at the bottom being the sacrum and the coccyx.
These joints are cushioned by discs which consist of the Annulus Fibrosis, (the tough flexible outer ring of the disk)and the Nucleus Pulposus (The soft, jelly-like centre of the disk).
The disk starts to herniate, when its jelly like centre is forced against its outer joint ring, which can be caused by wear and tear or maybe a injury. It is this pressure against the outer ring, that may causes your lower back pain.
