Piriformis Pain
Piriformis Pain , The Piriformis muscle is located deep in the buttock (behind the gluteus maximus). Piriformis Pain (Piriformis syndrome) is the condition where the piriformis muscle, spasms and causes buttock pain.
The piriformis muscle also irritates the sciatic nerve (near to the piriformis) and causes pain, sometimes numbness and tingling down the back of the leg and into the foot. It can sometimes feel the same as sciatic pain.

Some common symptoms
- Dull ache in the buttock
- Pain down the back of the thigh, calf and foot
- Pain when walking up inclines or stairs
- Increased pain after prolonged sitting
- Possible reduced range of motion of the hip joint
