Patellar Tendonitis

Patellar Tendonitis, is a common injury or inflammation of the tendon that connects your kneecap (patella) to your shinbone (tibia).

Patellar Tendonitis can be brought on by repetitive stress to the knee usually from overuse in particular, sports, weight training or gym exercise. It’s a very common injury with athletes who play volleyball, basketball or any sport that involves a lot of jumping. It is sometimes referred to as jumper’s knee.

  • Pain and tenderness of your kneecap
  • Pain in the joint, especially after activity
  • Swelling of the affected joint
  • Painful kneeling down
  • Stiffness after resting
  • Weakening of the joint, feels like it is “giving way”
