Knee Osteoarthritis

Sub-4 Musculoskeletal Biomechanics Clinic in Staffordshire, West Midlands

Knee Osteoarthritis

Knee Osteoarthritis , Osteoarthritis is a condition that causes joints to become painful and stiff. Osteoarthritis is one of the most common forms of arthritis. The knee is the most commonly affected joints of this condition.

The end of our bones are covered in a slippery surface, known as a cartilage. The  cartilage allows your bones to glide against each other without friction.

Your knee has two different type of cartilage, known as meniscus / menisci, which shares your body weight evenly across your knee joint. Osteoarthritis causes the cartilage in your knee joint to thin and the joint surface to become rougher, causing friction in your knee.

For some people, the symptoms can be mild and may come and go. If you are having knee issues or pain, it is best to get this assessed by a Musculoskeletal Podiatrist.
