Midfoot Sprain
Sub-4 Musculoskeletal Biomechanics Clinic in Staffordshire, West Midlands
Midfoot Sprain
Midfoot Sprain, (or Lisfranc joint) usually result if bones in the midfoot are broken or ligaments that support the midfoot are torn. Midfoot sprains are common in ball sports like football and rugby. If poorly managed can leave you with permanent foot issues.
Lisfranc injury can often mistaken for a simple sprain, especially if the injury is a result of a straight forward twist and fall. Any injury to the Lisfranc joint complex, is not a simple sprain and can not just be “walked off”.
It is very important that early diagnosis and correct treatment is carried out to prevent permanent long-term disability.
