High Arched Feet

Sub-4 Musculoskeletal Biomechanics Clinic in Staffordshire, West Midlands

High Arched Feet

High Arched Feet or Cavus foot are people with high arches who carry their weight mainly on the heels and ball of their feet

The arch of your foot is a slightly curved area between toes to the heel on the bottom of the foot (called the called pes cavus). In people with normal arches, the weight bearing stress is usually distributed across the entire foot in people with normal arches.

High arched feet, lack the flexibility to absorb shock, which will have a tendency to roll outward (called supination) as the foot rotates through a step. This can possibly increase the risk of ankle sprain or fractures.
